NK cells in hypoxic skin mediate a trade-off between wound healing and antibacterial defence

چکیده
Abstract During skin injury, immune response and repair mechanisms have to be coordinated for rapid regeneration the prevention of microbial infections. Natural Killer (NK) cells infiltrate hypoxic lesions Hypoxia-inducible transcription factors (HIFs) mediate adaptation low oxygen. We demonstrate that mice lacking factor (HIF)-1α isoform in NK show impaired release cytokines Interferon (IFN)-γ Granulocyte Macrophage - Colony Stimulating Factor (GM-CSF) as part a blunted response. This accelerates angiogenesis wound healing. Despite closure, bactericidal activity ability restrict systemic bacterial infection are impaired. Conversely, forced activation HIF pathway supports cytokine cell-mediated antibacterial defence including direct killing bacteria by despite delayed closure. Our results identify, HIF-1α nexus balances antimicrobial versus global skin.

Is There a Trade-Off Between Wound-Healing and Chemical Defenses Among Caribbean Reef Sponges?1
SYNOPSIS. On Caribbean coral reefs, some sponge species produce chemical defenses, while others do not and are non-fatally grazed by predatory fishes. It has been hypothesized that the latter may compensate for fish grazing by growing faster or rapidly healing wounds. Rates of wound-healing were measured for chemically defended and undefended tubular and vase-shaped sponges on patch reefs in th...
متن کاملIntradermal adipocytes mediate fibroblast recruitment during skin wound healing.
Acute wound healing in the skin involves the communication of multiple cell types to coordinate keratinocyte and fibroblast proliferation and migration for epidermal and dermal repair. Many studies have focused on the interplay between hematopoietic cells, keratinocytes and fibroblasts during skin wound healing, yet the possible roles for other cell types within the skin, such as intradermal ad...
متن کاملthe role of mesenchymal stem cells in skin wound healing
mesenchymal stem cells (mscs) could differentiate into various types of tissues. these cells serve as a backup for the regeneration and repair of tissues or cells after injury. a skin wound is defined as an injury to the skin that needs to be restored. all types of cells in skin especially mesenchymal stem cells play important role in wound healing process. in particular, paracrine signaling of...
متن کاملAntibacterial and Wound Healing Properties of Thymol (Thymus vulgaris Oil) and its Application in a Novel Wound Dressing
Background: In developing new products for skin care and wound treatment, biocompatibility plays a major role in the choice of ingredients. Thymol, an essential oil extracted from thyme plant, exhibits outstanding antibacterial properties, but more importantly, it proves to be much more compatible to skin cells in comparison to some conventionally used antibiotic drugs and chemicals. Objectiv...
متن کاملSkin-derived precursor cells promote wound healing in diabetic mice.
BACKGROUND Impaired wound healing as one of the complications arising from diabetes mellitus is a serious clinical issue. Recently, various cell therapies have been reported for promotion of wound healing. Skin-derived precursor cells (SKPs) are multipotent adult stem cells with the tendency to differentiate into neurons. We investigated the potency of promoting diabetic wound healing by the ap...
